0.7a and 0.8 are independent releases, and merging them is quite difficult, sorry. point the author of EDIT 0.8 to this bugreport. his site is at: http://www.geocities.com/xsaintx69/freedos/

Edit 0.81 fixes some of these bugs, specifically, (A), (C), (D), and (E). Actually, the write protection was implemented in Edit 0.8, but... Joe

Bugs fixed...except for (F) - I can't reproduce this one. (C) might be an issue with the Kernel. I'm still waiting for additional testing. (A) -- Fixed in 0.81 (B) -- Fixed in 0.82 (C) -- Fixed in 0.8 (Tested again in 0.82 -- still works) (D) -- See above (E) -- Fixed in 0.82 (F) -- Can't reproduce. Joe
Freedos 0.8 tested with kernel 2034, latest himem and keyb gr. a) the signs steered by ALTGR and a number (e.g. {[]}\@) do no longer work (worked with 0.7a) b) When creating a NEW file and save them with "save" there is no message "file already exists. Do you really want to overwrite it?" if a file with the same name already exists. c) When storing a file on a write protected diskette there is no error message "Disk is write protected". The diskette works and it looks as if it would store the file (of course it doesnt). (worked on 0.7a). d) In addition to c): I used no lbacache or something like this. Nevertheless the file to c) seems to be stored when you type dir. REALLY. TEST IT. YOU EVEN CAN OPEN IT!!! After some trials the not existing file suddenly disappears. I dont know why this is so. e) If the file is bigger than the place on the diskette there is no error message: "File too big". The text is written on the diskette - but only the part which fits on the diskette (I dont know why, but there stay 2048 bytes free on the diskette). (At 0.7a there was a error message - but the "half file" was not deleted. f) It happened one time till now: When opening a file with in about 1000 byte the text was changed: looked like the first 512 byte of text came BEHIND the other 488 byte. Confused me a little bit. I dont know if this was a problem of saving or opening the file. Thank you for solving these problems soon.
