Bug 1807

Summary: Bugzilla email notifications don't work.
Product: Bugzilla Reporter: Bart Oldeman <bartoldeman@users.sourceforge.net>
Component: bugzillaAssignee: jhall@freedos.org <jhall@freedos.org>
Status: RESOLVED FIXED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Version: unspecified
Hardware: PC
OS: FreeDOS

Description: Opened: 2004-07-13 18:38
Perhaps upgrading to the newest bugzilla version (2.16.6) would help?
For other projects I automatically get emails whenever something
is added.

This is a big issue, since right now one can only check if somebody
added a comment by manually checking bugs on the web.

If you are upgrading anyway, please consider
enabling some email address obfuscation for
the bugzilla web interface, to reduce potential
spam dangers.

@ is used instead of @ in bugzilla 2.18rc1, see
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120030

According to the comments this is enough to confuse all present bots,
at least until they become more sophisticated, but then present
harvesters don't have a real need as there are plenty of plain
text email addresses to be found out there anyway to promote P3n1s
enl4rgements to enough people to be profitable...
------- Comment #3 From Torsten Koopmann 2004-07-21 12:36:03 -------
sorry!

I'll second or third or whatever position this request.

Otherwise I don't read replies to my comments or even know about them
(including new stuff directly assigned to me) unless I set aside the free time
and actually remember to go digging around in Bugzilla. Given my advanced
stage of decrepitude, that could be intervals of two or three weeks at times.

As mentioned to a few people off-list, this was a configuration change made on
llamacom's servers (llamacom was our previous host provider.)

Our new host (thanks to the GTK.org guys) does allow web applications to send
mail. So after the new bugzilla was set up on the new host, mail is working again.

I'm (finally) marking this bug as FIXED. :-)
