That scares me, but it is something that can be put off arguing I didn't think this was necessary, but just to make it very clear, here is our official policy on Pacific C: Pacific C remains copyright to HI-TECH Software, but permission is granted to any person anywhere in the world to use it for any legal purpose other than manufacture of weapons. This grant of rights is perpetual as it applies to the current version and any other versions released under the same licence. It may be redistributed in its original form, with or without other software and add-ons. The source code to the compiler will not be released in the forseeable future for the simple reason that it incorporates trade secret technology that is still a key element of our commercial products. We offer no guarantee of any regularity of updates or any level of tech support for Pacific C, but we are interested to see it being used usefully, and therefore bug reports are welcome. A new version (with the shareware statement removed) will be provided in the forseeable future, work has been progressing on this, but it's not our highest priority. The current version is about as bug free as software gets, we don't want to rush out another version and ruin that situation. I'm not going to buy into the compiler wars, but Pacific C is most definitely available to FreeDOS developers and users for free.
